子連れで行く片男波海水浴場/Summer at Kataonami Beach

まず初めに

一昨日は海の日でしたね(^^♪

もう海で遊んじゃったよって方が沢山いるとは思いますが

私も和歌山県にある

その名も

「片男波（かたおなみ）海水浴場」へ行ってまいりました

普通に落ち着いて読んだら読めるはずなのに

なぜか去年は読めませんでした(;^ω^)

我が家は親戚や親戚の友達などを含めると

総勢25人超えで大集合してました（笑）

そんな片男波のビーチはとっても綺麗な砂浜で

カップルや家族連れに人気のスポットのようでした

今回は、そんな片男波での一日を臨場感たっぷりと、ご紹介したいと思います

道中の車での工夫から、ビーチでの楽しみ方や失敗談、

そして帰り道に立ち寄ったグルメまで、盛りだくさんの内容でお届けします☆

１．子供がいる家庭には大敵な渋滞・・・には？

行く時間を完璧にミスしまくりの我が家（笑）

朝8時に家を出ると

まぁ‼大変

事故で大渋滞をくらって前にしばらく進めませんでしたが

途中のコンビニで買ったアイスが平和をもたらしてくれました

(ただし、朝食の時間にです（笑）)

いつもなら、絶対にそんな事はしないのですが

遊びに行ってる時は機嫌良くが大切なので笑って流しました

ただ、そこでアイスを普通に食べていたら車のシートが

溶けたアイスでドエライ事になって

私の機嫌も損なう惨劇になってたと思います

そこで役立ったのが、楽天で買った

こちらの車で使う便利なテーブルです

その他にも、ちょっとしたおやつを食べたり、お絵かきをしたり、

これがあるだけで、グズる回数がぐんと減るし

私のイライラも無いしで

本当に買ってよかったです♪

ただし、注意点として・・・

この机は車に丁寧に積んでいたら

めっちゃ役立つけれど

我が家みたいに適当に扱うと形が崩れてしまうので

要注意です（笑）

さて、そんな娘の機嫌を損なわずに運んでくれる

もう一つの優れものは腰をかけるシートです(^^♪

どこへ行く時も大活躍のAprica（アップリカ）のキッズシートです

安全性と座り心地も良くて、水筒やジュースなどを左右に置けるし

オモチャも置ける？？

時には、ぐっすり夢の中へも連れて行ってくれる味方

事故渋滞に引っかかりながらも30分超えの待ちは流石に

子供のトイレが持たないのもあったので高速道路を降りて

途中で違うルートを見つけていきました

２．青い海と白い砂浜！片男波ビーチで夏の最初の思い出

片男波海水浴場に到着すると、目の前には綺麗な青い海と青い空、遠くの山々が見えて

気持ちも高鳴りました♪

さすが祝日(*´▽｀*)

多くの家族連れや若者で賑わっていて、

まさに夏真っ盛りといった雰囲気

娘も大興奮で、着くなり早く海に行きたいと駆け出していきました

公園の砂場なら服が汚れるから憂鬱やけど

水着に砂浜は神の領域(*´▽｀*)

もっとやれー♪

てな具合で私まで一緒にやっていました

海へも入って欲しいから腕に浮き輪も装備させて

胴体用の浮き輪もつけて

砂場で遊んだのち海へGO♪

最近の娘はマーメイドのアニメをよく観ていて

自由にプカプカ浮いて、マーメイドになったかのように楽しんでました

波打ち際でワニみたいにチャプチャプと遊んでいたり、

少し深いところでプカプカ浮いたり…と、

最高の夏の始まりを満喫しました

３．失敗談

11時ごろについてから17時ごろまでお昼ご飯を食べたり

泳いだりしていましたが

16時ごろに、そろそろシャワーをしないと退場時間の18時に間に合わなくなるので

着替えなどを持って行きシャワーをすると少しだけ違和感が。。。。

それは何かと言うと

日焼け止めを背中に塗るの忙しすぎて忘れてました(;^ω^)
(おかげでブログを書いている今めっちゃ痛いしツライです（笑）)

皆さんは気をつけてくださいね

シャワールームを使用した感想としては

マナーが悪い客のせいで本来は着替える踊り場の所が綺麗なはずなのに

砂だらけで汚かったし、コインロッカーは荷物が入ったまま鍵が開いていたりと

客側のマナーの低下が見えました

皆で綺麗に使うと素敵な空間になります(^^♪

デメリットかもしれない部分

シャワーは冷水なので冷たいです

ですが、1回100円で数分使えてストップも出来ました

4歳児と2人で100×5枚の500円あれば、のんびり洗えると思います

トイレですが便座タイプが私の見た所1か所かな？と思いました

小さな子供さんや足の不自由な方は使うのが難しいかも知れません

多機能トイレもありましたが砂がかんでいて閉まりにくかったので解消しても

恐らく再びなるかも知れないなと思いました

海辺なので全部を完璧にとはいかないので

個人的には問題ない部分だと思います

４．旅の締めくくりは寄り道っしょ！和歌山ラーメン＆しらす丼

海水浴で時間が物足りないなぁとか思いながら

後ろ髪をひかれつつ海水浴場を後にした私たちは

お腹もペコペコやし、遠出をしたら必ずサービスエリアへ寄りたくなる

昔からの揺るがない決意（笑）

なので、帰り道に立ち寄ったのが、紀ノ川サービスエリア（上り）でした(^^♪

昨年はフードコートで食べましたが今回は席が空いてなかったので

レストラン「紀の川水了軒」さんに入りました

写真は人が座っていたので撮れませんでしたがパンダが

こちらを覗いてる窓があり見ているだけでも癒されました

パンダと座れる席なるものがありましたが

時間もないため割愛してカウンターへ。。。
本物のパンダさん子供に見せたかったけれど高いレンタル代は
ちょっとな…＿(　_´ω`)_ﾍﾟｼｮ

そんなこんな思ってると

和歌山ラーメンとしらす丼のセットが登場♪

写真は撮っていませんが

お子様うどんもありました

運ばれてくるといなや食欲をそそる香りが漂ってきて、

もう待ちきれませんでした( *´艸｀)

恐らくですが豚骨醤油ベースので、こってりとしたスープで

細めの麺によく絡んでました♪

腹ペコな体に染みわたる美味しさでした

それでまた、セットの「しらす丼」もホッコリするような味わいで絶品！

釜揚げしらすがたっぷりと乗っていて、ふんわりとした食感と、

ほんのりとした塩気と醤油の香りで

ご飯が進む進む( *´艸｀)

ラーメンと丼の組み合わせが背徳感マシマシで(笑)

煮卵120円

チャーシューマシ180円

しかも、隣のパレットさんで買ったパンダのソフトクリームが

可愛くて(*´▽｀*)

(お値段は可愛くない550円（笑）)

でも、濃厚な味が最高だったし

ラーメンも、シラス丼も、めっちゃ和歌山ならではの味を堪能できて、

最高な海を丸ごと食べたような大満足の食事と1日になりました

Introduction

The day before yesterday was Marine Day in Japan!

I bet many of you have already had fun at the beach by now.

As for me, I went to a beach in Wakayama Prefecture called…

“Kataonami Beach”

Although it looks like a name that should be easy to read,

for some reason, I couldn’t read it properly last year!

Including relatives and their friends, our group had over

25 people gathered at the beach—

a massive summer reunion!

Kataonami Beach is known for its beautiful white sand and is a popular spot for couples and families alike.

In this post,

I’ll share a detailed and vivid look into our day at Kataonami—

from the car ride there, beach fun, mishaps,

to the delicious food on the way home!

1. Battling Traffic with Kids

The Dreaded Family Enemy: Traffic Jams… Or Are They?

We completely messed up the timing.

We left the house at 8 a.m., which meant… yep, full-on traffic.

To make matters worse, there was an accident on the highway,

so we were stuck and barely moving.

But salvation came in the form of an ice cream we

picked up at a convenience store on the way.

(Though yes… we ate it for breakfast lol)

Normally, I would never allow that,

but hey—it’s a day for fun!

And when you’re out making memories,

staying in a good mood is more important than rules.

That said, if the ice cream had melted all over the car seats,

my good mood would’ve melted with it…

That’s where this life-saving product came in handy!

It wasn’t just useful for holding ice cream—

our daughter also used it for snacking and even doodling.

This little table really reduced the number of cranky moments

in the car—both hers and mine!

Just one warning:
If you take care of it, it works wonders.
But if you throw it in the car like we do…
it may lose its shape pretty fast.

Another Must-Have: Our Ride-Or-Die Car Seat

Every trip we take, this car seat proves its worth.

Sometimes, it even lulls her straight into dreamland.

Back to the road drama…

The traffic jam went on for over 30 minutes.

With a kid in the car, bladder emergencies are real—

so we eventually exited the highway

and found an alternate route.

Crisis (barely) averted!

2.Blue Skies and White Sand — Our First Summer Memory at Kataonami Beach

When we finally arrived at Kataonami Beach,

we were welcomed by a stunning view:

the sparkling blue sea, a clear blue sky,

and distant mountains stretching along the horizon.

It instantly lifted our spirits♪

As expected on a national holiday (´▽｀),

the beach was packed with families and young people, radiating peak summer vibes.

My daughter was over the moon with excitement—

she jumped out of the car and ran toward the ocean, shouting,

“Let’s go!”

If it were a park sandbox,

I’d be groaning about dirty clothes,

but when it’s a swimsuit and a beach?

That’s divine territory (´▽｀)

I couldn’t help but join her excitement and cheer her on:

“Go for it~!”

Wanting her to enjoy the ocean too,

I strapped on her arm floaties and added a

donut-shaped inner tube around her waist.

After some fun in the sand, it was time to dive into the sea!

Lately, she’s been obsessed with mermaid cartoons,

and she floated so freely—

it was like she’d become a mermaid herself, completely immersed in the magic.

She splashed around like a crocodile near the shoreline,

then floated peacefully in the deeper part of the water.

It was the perfect start to our summer.

3.Oops! Our Beach Blunders & Useful Info

We arrived at the beach around 11:00 a.m. and stayed until about 5:00 p.m., enjoying lunch and lots of swimming.

But around 4:00 p.m., I realized we needed to head for the showers soon to make it out by the 6:00 p.m. closing time.

As I was getting ready with my daughter and went into the shower, something felt… off.

And then it hit me.

I forgot to put sunscreen on my back!
(As I’m writing this blog, my back still hurts… seriously, learn from my mistake )

So please, don’t forget yours like I did!

Shower Room Impressions & a Bit of Disappointment

The shower area itself was fine,
but unfortunately, some guests weren’t very considerate—

• The changing area, which is usually clean, was full of sand
• Some coin lockers were left open with personal belongings still inside

It was a bit of a letdown to see how some people lacked basic manners.

Let’s all try to keep shared spaces clean and respectful, yeah?

Possible Downsides to Know in Advance

• Showers use cold water, so be prepared—it’s chilly!
  But you get a few minutes per 100 yen, and you can pause the water as needed.

For a parent with a 4-year-old, 500 yen (5 coins) was more than enough for a relaxed rinse.

• Toilets: From what I saw, only one stall had a Western-style toilet seat.
  This might make things tricky for little kids or people with mobility issues.

There was a multi-functional toilet available,
but the sliding door was filled with sand and difficult to close.
Even if it’s cleaned, I imagine it’ll fill up with sand again fairly quickly.

Still, since this is a beach environment, I found these minor inconveniences understandable.

4.Wrapping Up the Trip with a Detour: Wakayama Ramen & Shirasu Donburi!

After our time at the beach, which somehow still felt too short,
we left the seaside with a bit of regret lingering behind us.

Our stomachs were growling, and honestly, whenever we go on a road trip, stopping by a service area on the way home is a must—it’s been a tradition for as long as I can remember!

So we pulled into the Kino River Service Area (upbound) on our way back.

Last year, we ate in the food court, but this time all the seats were taken, so we decided to try the restaurant called “Kino River Sui Ryoken.”

I couldn’t take a photo because people were sitting there, but there was an adorable panda peeking through the window, and just looking at it was healing

There were even special “panda seats” where you could sit next to a panda figure!
But since we didn’t have much time, we skipped those and headed to the counter instead.

Honestly, I wanted to show my child a real panda someday…
But the high rental fee for that kind of experience?
Yeah, no thanks… _(　´ω`)

Just as I was thinking that, our set meal of
Wakayama Ramen and Shirasu Donburi arrived!

I didn’t snap a pic, but they also had kid-sized udon noodles available.

As soon as the food was placed in front of us, the delicious aroma hit us, and we couldn’t wait to dig in!

I think the ramen had a tonkotsu(pork bone) soy sauce base,
with a rich and hearty broth that clung perfectly to the thin noodles.

It was just what our hungry bodies needed—so satisfying!

And that shirasu (whitebait) rice bowl that came with it? Total comfort food and absolutely divine.

The steamed whitebait was generously piled on top, fluffy and light in texture, with just the right amount of saltiness and soy sauce flavor—it made the rice disappear in no time!

Then came the panda soft serve from the neighboring shop called Palette.
It was so cute!

(The price wasn’t so cute though… ¥550! )

Still, it had a rich, creamy flavor that made it totally worth it.

The ramen, the shirasu rice bowl, the panda soft serve—all of it tasted like the true flavors of Wakayama.

It felt like we’d eaten a whole piece of the ocean, and we ended our day with full bellies and even fuller hearts.

Final Thoughts: Summer Memories

Our day at Kataonami Beach was filled with joy—from the blue skies and ocean breeze, to beach fun, car rides, and even dessert after swimming. It was a perfect slice of summer, and I’m so grateful for the memories we made.
