So, I went to check it out!
Hello ☆

Since this fair focuses on enjoying a variety of seafood dishes,
just like always,
I ordered everything that caught my interest
— and more importantly,
everything I was able to eat —
and I’d like to share my honest food review with you!
Must-Try Dishes from the Jyujyu Karubi Seafood Fair【Real Taste Review】
I mentioned this in my previous post, but
I’m really not good with spicy food.
So I skipped anything that looked extremely spicy…
But there was one item where I thought,
“Maybe… I can handle this?”
That’s when I decided to try and review:
Kanefuku Mentaiko & Korean Seaweed Rice Ball
Kanefuku Mentaiko & Korean Seaweed Rice Ball
You might be thinking,
“Wait… starting with an onigiri?!”
Yes, you there (´ω`)
I thought the same thing too…
But—
I went for it anyway♪
And honestly, I’m really glad I did!
I had heard of Kanefuku mentaiko before,
and I’d always heard that it was pretty spicy.
So I ordered it very cautiously…
and yes, for me, the spiciness was quite strong.
I definitely had that moment of
“Oh… wow, that’s spicy!!”
But strangely enough,
when eaten together with the seaweed,
it suddenly tasted really good.
The aroma of the seaweed,
the saltiness,
and the warm, fluffy rice
worked perfectly together♪
That said, I think it really depends on
how much mentaiko is on top (´ω`)
The second time I ordered it,
there was a generous amount piled on—
and yeah… that one was pretty spicy
I also completely forgot to take an insert photo,
which was a total fail on my part…
Please forgive me (;’∀’)
Tuna Yukhoe (Light and Refreshing Style)
The moment it arrived,
the aroma of sesame oil gently filled the air,
so I thought,
“Oh, this must be a sweet and savory sauce type.”
But… surprisingly,
it had a refreshing taste,
almost like there was lemon juice mixed in.
It was a completely different kind of yukhoe
than I expected!
Yukhoe usually has a rich, bold flavor,
but this one was much lighter.
It paired really well with salad too,
making it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy.

Lightly Seared Tuna
Before grilling, it looks like a very solid cut of raw red tuna,
but once it’s cooked, it turns into a whitish color that almost looks like
chicken, which I found really interesting.
At first glance, it looks super spicy,
but surprisingly, the seasoning is actually ultra-super mild.
The flavor reminded me a little of mitarashi dango sauce—
slightly sweet and gentle.
If you want to change things up from the sweet flavor,
adding just a small dab of gochujang gives it a mild spicy kick
and turns it into a completely different taste, which is really nice.
That said, depending on the cut,
there were moments when I noticed a slight fishy smell.
In those cases, adding just a tiny bit of garlic helped reduce it a lot.
(But honestly, too much garlic tends to overpower everything,
so I personally don’t recommend using a lot.)

One thing to watch out for:
When transferring it to the grill,
it can be a bit hard to grip—
you might almost drop it through the grill if you’re not careful (lol).
Japanese Snow Crab Cream Croquette
(with domestic “beni-zuwai” crab)
I imagined it would be a big, heavy cream croquette,
but it was actually a smaller size.
Big croquettes can feel a bit too much toward the end,
so personally, I think this size was just right.
When I took a bite,
I felt a soft crab aroma rise gently to my nose,
so it definitely matched the “seafood fair” theme.
That said—being completely honest—
Because it was labeled “with red snow crab,”
I kind of expected to see bits of crab meat inside…
but when I cut it open, I couldn’t really spot any
Still, as the name suggests,
it was creamy and delicious, so no complaints there.
I decided not to include photos for this one.
Scallops with Lemon Butter Soy Sauce
(An unexpectedly mysterious flavor)
This one tasted sweet and savory at first,
but then a light lemony acidity suddenly appeared—
a really interesting combination.
I kept wondering,
“What exactly is creating this flavor?”
…but honestly, I couldn’t figure it out (*´ω`*)
If anyone knows the secret behind this taste,
please tell me!
I suspect the mushrooms (maybe shimeji?)
might be what’s adding that unique twist,
but I’m not 100% sure.
I even thought—
if it had been enoki mushrooms instead,
maybe the impression would’ve been totally different?
For this dish as well,
I chose not to include photos.
Kanefuku Mentaiko Cream Pasta (Just as Expected)
Maybe because I had already tried the mentaiko onigiri,
the taste was pretty much what I expected.
If I had to ask for one thing,
I wish there were two more baby scallops in it.
I feel like that would have made it more satisfying.

The portion of pasta was quite small this time,
so I don’t think anyone would mistakenly think,
“Did I come here just to eat pasta?” (lol)
Squid Rings
As I’ve mentioned before,
the squid here is honestly…
unforgivably delicious
(and yes, that’s a compliment (*´▽`*)).
Isn’t it amazing that a yakiniku restaurant
also serves such good seafood?

Just look at this.
A solid soy sauce–based flavor,
thick and hearty squid meat,
and that perfect balance of springy texture
with a slightly crisp bite.
It has the same plump texture as the grilled squid
I always order here.
Highly recommended
Dessert Squad

Finally, from the front left:
- Premium Chocolate Ice Cream:
I personally found it slightly bitter,
but my 4-year-old thought it was delicious and ate it happily. - Koala’s March with Vanilla Ice Cream:
As it’s vanilla ice cream,
the taste is exactly what you’d expect—reliable and comforting.
Next, in the back on the left side:
- Toppo with Toasted Marshmallow:
When you roast it over the flame, the inside becomes melty and fluffy. - Mini Yukimi Daifuku:
Bite-sized Yukimi Daifuku that’s easy to eat (just as expected, lol).
People who still have some New Year holidays left—
there’s only a little time remaining!!
Why not go out and recharge your energy
before work starts again?
