Before Writing About ampee ’s Japanese-Style Crepes and Coffee

I visited ampee again on November 23rd.

I had planned to write this blog post right away, but…

it turned out to be a national holiday,

so my daughter was home, and I couldn’t write.

Then on the 25th, my daughter came down with the flu—

and to make things worse, I caught it too…

and then my husband…

A triple knockout that completely wiped us out.

Even now, my cough hasn’t stopped, and

I’m actually writing this blog while recovering.

(I usually take a few days to finish a post anyway, because I’m slow, haha.)

New Toppings at ampee

Whenever you visit ampee, there’s often something

new added to the topping menu.

This time, a new topping appeared:

strawberries 🍓 were added!

The crepe I ordered was the ultimate “Wafu guilty pleasure” —

a mega-indulgent custom creation loaded with flavor.

The base was whipped cream generously drizzled with matcha sauce.

To that, I added anko (sweet red bean paste) and a pat of butter,

making it an incredibly luxurious combination.

The matcha sauce has a mild bitterness,

so even people who don’t usually enjoy bitter flavors can eat it comfortably.

That gentle balance was one of my favorite points♪

Sweet × Salty = Pure Indulgence

At first,

I thought the cute little pat of butter sitting on top was the only one.

But nope.

Just like finding hidden Pokémon,

more and more chunks of butter kept showing up inside the cream.

I let my guard down… and there I met my fate (´ω｀)

I ordered this because

I knew the sweetness of the red bean paste and

the saltiness of the butter would blend beautifully —

and they DID.

But…

I found more butter than expected, and suddenly

the sweet–salty bliss filling my mouth transformed

into a kind of boss battle toward the end (lol)

Lesson learned: don’t be greedy (´▽｀)

For a Japanese-style crêpe, iced coffee is the perfect match

To pair with this rich, Japanese-style custom crêpe,

I chose an iced coffee — and it was the perfect decision.

One of my goals that day was actually

“Drink their coffee!!”

Mission accomplished.

I originally wanted to try something different,

but since I’m not great with bitter flavors,

I played it safe this time.

• With the first sip, the aroma of the beans gently rises through your nose, giving you a calming moment.


• The slight bitterness wraps around the richness of the crêpe and leaves a clean, refreshing aftertaste.


• The pairing of a Japanese-style crêpe and a refreshing iced coffee is simply perfect ☆

Coffee That Changes Every Month

When I chatted briefly with the owner of ampee cafe,

I learned something interesting —

their coffee selection changes every month.

This was the coffee available in November.

If you’re a coffee lover,

I think this café is a place

where you could easily come just to enjoy a cup…

even without ordering a crêpe.

Summary

ampee is a shop you can enjoy in many different ways

• you can visit with your family,
• stop by when you’re feeling tired and want a little refresh,
• or come with a sense of curiosity thinking,
  “I wonder what kind of coffee they have this month?”

No matter the reason, it’s a place I truly recommend.

By the way…

I once thought about trying every topping on the menu,

but with thousands of possible combinations,

I quickly realized that was impossible (lol).
