English Is Here
It was supposed to be the perfect day for hanami...
But what’s with this chilly weather!?
Did winter come back just to surprise us? 😂
Well, since the cherry blossoms were blooming, we still went ahead and had a hanami picnic the other day.
Despite the cold, we brought along some homemade bento and stayed until the night illumination began.
Our bento included cat-shaped rice balls,
slightly sweet tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet),
fried chicken, shrimp shumai dumplings, cherry tomatoes, and broccoli.
It was a bit cold, but no doubt—we had a great time!
We even enjoyed some dessert in between.
We stayed and stayed… (*'▽')
(Okay, finding a restroom was a bit of a challenge. 😂)

Three-colored dango (a Japanese rice dumpling skewer with pink, white, and green mochi) |
“three-colored dango,” is a traditional Japanese sweet made of mochi on a skewer—pink, white, and green, symbolizing spring.
And then... the lanterns lit up—
Everything turned beautifully magical.
Famous spots like Osaka Castle are always breathtaking,
but sometimes, a small local park feels just as special.
Cherry blossoms bloom in an instant and fall just as quickly.
There’s something so fragile, so beautiful about it.
I hope you’ll take a moment to enjoy this fleeting beauty, too.
💡 Kyle's Fun Fact:
In Japan, it’s common to bring a leisure sheet (like a picnic blanket) and sit under the cherry blossoms with food and drinks.
It’s not just about viewing the flowers—it’s about spending time with friends and family, enjoying the moment together.
This kind of “flower-viewing picnic” is unique to Japan, and it’s one of the reasons people from all over the world fall in love with hanami season.
Kyle is my brain.
I’ve created a seasonal photo series with a watercolor touch—spring, summer, fall, and winter—available on gumroad.
Note
The pricing is a bit more friendly, so please take a peek and enjoy!
