Introduction

Hello, this is Skydolphin-M (^^♪

Today, before heading out,

I had a little free time—so I finally tried something

I’d been wanting to do for a while.

That was doing a drawing challenge with my daughter!

For reference, we used a blog post by a fellow blogger

I’m connected with on X, Yanamaki from Egokoro Blog.

Yanamaki from Egokoro Blog

I had asked permission beforehand because

I really wanted to introduce her blog here.

She’s such a wonderful creator, making crafts and projects for her kids that

I could never pull off myself. Truly inspiring!

Now, let’s get to the main part.

Since my daughter loves pandas, we started with a panda drawing.

1. Trying the Panda!

Easy Panda Drawing Guide

We began with a simple circle, then added the eyes.

My 4-year-old daughter held her pencil tightly, watching carefully as she followed along.

She said, “The eyes are tricky!” but kept going and finished her panda drawing.

Finished Panda

The arms and legs were a bit tough for a 4-year-old,

so it turned into a very unique panda.

But that individuality made it even cuter—it became an adorable,

one-of-a-kind panda (laughs).

2. Trying the Lion!

Easy Lion Drawing Guide

Next, we moved on to the lion, which looked a bit more challenging.

She made the mane spiky with her own creative twist.

For the face, I helped by sketching the outline first, and she traced over it.

When it came to drawing the legs,

she pressed a bit too hard and the line stretched way out—“Biiiyo~n!” .

We erased it together and held the pencil hand-in-hand to fix it.

Finally, she completed her lion drawing.

Since the blog also suggested creative variations, she had a lot of fun drawing it.

Once we added crayon colors, the whole thing came to life.

She even added a crown and a heart, turning it into her very own original lion.

3. Bonus: A Train Sketch

Lion with the Doctor Yellow Train

I thought the famous yellow bullet train (Doctor Yellow)

might be easier for her to try, so

I drew the outline and let her take over.

It turned out a little small and simple,

but you could definitely tell what it was supposed to be!

As she drew, she explained,

“These are the eyes, this is the nose…” which was super cute to hear.

Conclusion

Drawing together with my daughter made me realize

how quickly time flies when you’re both so focused and having fun.

It’s not about being “good” or “bad” at drawing

—it’s about sharing the experience and enjoying it together.

Thanks to Yanamaki’s blog,

we were able to spend such a joyful time together.

Thank you so much for the inspiration!

I highly recommend trying a drawing challenge with your kids

—you might be surprised at how much fun it is!
